Are you guilty of doom scrolling on Pinterest until you HAVE to jump up and thrift shop? Me too. This is why Shop with Jaylyn secondhand shop, is perfect for thrifters like you and me.

If you're wanting to get out of the house and shop she has a store set up at Two Sugars, located here in Kc!

But, if you're not wanting to get out, so you can continue to doom scroll, there’s an online shop option as well!

What inspires your creativity?

“Pinterest has been a driving force in my fashion creativity. Its a great place to get inspiration and become immersed into a facet of fashion. The combinations of clothing are truly endless and this idea fuels me to find new pieces in every store that I haven’t seen before.

What does your artwork represent?

“Fashion and clothes are my artwork. They represent my never ending love for colors, designs and fabric. They demonstrate being able to showcase individuality in such an upfront manner.”

How do you make it, in the art community?

“Social media has been my main source of getting into the clothing community. Its a place to find not only inspiration but also others who share a passion for fashion.”

What does art mean to you and what it means for society?

“To me art can mean any form of creativity. From paintings and sculpting to nail art and graphic design. They are ways of expression or showing the world a little piece of your mind. Its a way for people to come together and be affected by the art. Art invokes emotions and can heal people.”

How does being from KC affect your work in the Artist community?

“KC has been a place where I am able to talk to people and go places that revolve around clothes and fashion. I’ve attended many clothing popups where I am able to meet many people and network. KC is also home to one of my permanent vendor locations (Two Sugars Coffee) which has helped spread my work.”

What is your favorite medium?

“Clothes! Clothes is endless and the things you can do with it are even more continual. I love going to secondhand stores and being able to see a piece of clothing someone has loved and knowing I am going to give it another life.”

Tell us a little about yourself?

“I am a Kansas raised individual who has always felt inspired to do something with fashion. I loved sewing from a young age. With my adolescent imagination I think you can imagine some of the pieces I made weren’t so functional and more colorful but I loved them no matter what. With this passion I think you can imagine my absolute shock when I realized how great thrift stores are. Rain or shine I love going thrift shopping. Simply entering these stores give me a boost of serotonin.”

Any struggles you’ve had as an upcoming artist?

“I feel as if coming into this field of clothing resale it can be extremely competitive. I never knew this in the beginning but quickly learned. I am an amiable person and wish it wasn’t so difficult at times. Nonetheless I have been able to find many supportive people who’ve helped embody what fashion should be, a community.”
