INSIDE W/ SARAH’S LITTLE WORKSHOP CO.

Goooodmorning KC! This morning we have another amazing interview from Sarah, the creator of. Sarah's Little Workshop Co. We wanted to get more of an inside scoop on Sarah’s daily life as an artist in the Kc art district! Without further ado, let’s get into it!

What inspires your candles, and doggo treats or just to create in general?

“Being creative and creating with my hands, whether it's candles, making labels, adding colors together or even baking has always been my thing. I love being creative and making things aesthetic. People know me as the candy lady, but I am venturing out into other areas where I want to be known as a creator.”

What does your artwork represent to you?

“My candles and anything and everything I create represent happiness. It's a ray of sunshine. The things I create impact people in a good way. I've noticed a smile, or laughter when reading my candles.”

How do you make it, in the KC art community?

“ I travel a lot for my pop-ups, and I always try to keep up with trendy things. I take my time to make sure my table attracts people. I also like to try new places for pop-ups, and my social media also displays my creations.”

What does art mean to you, and what does it mean to society?

“ Art means creating anything and making you feel a certain way. So when you look at the creation, it makes you feel some sort of emotion. My candles speak to a lot of people and are in every mood. You could be in a bad mood, and all you need is my candle to make it better or to relax or have the house smell amazing. “

How does being from Kc affect you as an artist in the art community?

“KC, my hometown, is full of creativity! I love this town. I was born and raised in downtown KC where my whole environment was full of art. Not just paintings and drawings. More like diversity and so much creativity in one area. Whether it be food, clothes, or music. It has always been a blessing growing up here and seeing the town grow and accept artwork in different shapes and forms.”

What is your favorite medium to work with?

“My favorite medium, for now, is soy wax.”

Lastly, tell us a little about yourself so we can get to know you a little more!

“Born and raised here in KCMO, and have seen the town from nothing to something! I am 2nd generation Asian American. Children from two immigrants who fled from their homes to create a new life. I have always been a person that loves to be crafty. It makes me so happy to have someone appreciate my creations. And I am so blessed to have KC as my audience. “
