Hello KC, and good afternoon! Today we are introducing Haley Lane Art! We asked Haley a couple of questions about her art and what it means to her and just all around what it’s like to be an artist in the kc art community! Here’s what she had to say:

What inspires your creations?

“I am driven by a deep desire to create fantastical works of art with entirely original concepts commonly inspired by my childhood. I source materials that excite me and let them guide my hand in the creation process.“

What does your artwork represent?

“My artwork represents my love for the colorful, playful, and whimsy part of life. So much of our world is so grey and industrial, and I want to breathe new life into everyday objects to make everyday life happier and more colorful.”

How do you make it, in the art community?

“The key to making it is to make!! To pursue a life in the arts means to work diligently and passionately on your craft. It also helps to harness the power of the internet in finding your audience! “

What does art mean to you and what it means for society?

“Art is everything. It is in everything. Everything in our civilized world has been created, and when done with imagination and creativity, the extraordinary happens. Art brings us together by uniting communities; Art gives us a way to express this incredible and sometimes challenging human experience. It is the fullest expression of our lives. A world without Art would be no world at all.”

How does being from KC affect your work in the Artist community?

“Kansas City is a remarkable city with a deep love for art and its artists. Fellow artists in our local community have been incredibly encouraging of my journey, welcoming, and inspirational. Our big city with small-town kindness has led to incredible friendships and collaborations. I’m so grateful for this community for uplifting its artists.”

What's your favorite medium?

“My favorite medium of all time is Polymer Clay. I struggled for a period of time with expressing myself in the 2-dimensional world, and once I made the leap and tried clay, it opened so many doors for me. Polymer Clay is so forgiving and therapeutic to work with. The most exciting feeling in the world is seeing a creation in front of me that was once just a thought.”

Lastly, a little about yourself.

“I am a creative with a drive to make our lives more exciting with wonderful, whimsical pieces. I operate an online storefront selling my one of a kind creations all around the world in my great effort to spice up our world.”
